What I have been doing

So…I’ve decided that I wanted to do a bunch of things. I’ve got my second kid now…(who is currently passed out), and I feel like I need to do more. I’ve had a bunch of friends, friends of friends and some random folks ask me for help with technology. I decided that it is a fun side project to have and will give me some different experiences and make me expand things.

So I setup an LLC just after the first of the year.

It is…interesting. I’ve had several clients already…and keep looking for more, which is the hard part it seems. Forming the LLC, a little painful. Some other stuff has been interesting. I’m working on expanding my CMS knowledge…which is fun. I’ve used it as an excuse to sign up for Lynda.com for training classes. Doing things a bit at a time.

I’ve also been growing a beard. It started out as a “I don’t have enough control in my life…” thing when the pregancy was going on. Now…I’ve liked it and have kept it. I think it’s something different.

Kidlet #2 is waking up…need to go take care of her.

Should have had...

...the Olympics on the East coast...

...New year all!

The next time...

...you pig fuckers want to break into my car, go ahead and just smash the window first instead of trying to be all secret squirrel about it and trying to get in quietly. Its a modern fucking car people, they know what they are going to try to do and have designed it to not work with you...so rather then fuck up the pain and the body which is the pain in the ass to fix, just smash the window because that I can get fixed in like 1/2 a day.

And I'm sick so it pissed me off more pig fuckers...be more considerate next time.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

It's one of those things that are forgotten on holidays...the meaning of the holiday. Wife's grand father is MIA presumed KIA from Korea. Most folks know people who have served. So yes its sunny, and yes its a day off, but remember the reason for the day off and what those have given and continue to give. Like it or not, peace or no, there are those who have given the "last full measure of devotion" for this country and we should remember that.

WWI writing and poems are some of the most interesting because of the human response to what they saw was so intense. It was the last trench war and the first of the modern wars with unimaginable destruction.

I know I'm a couple of days early, but it's just because of the mindset I'm in.

Wanna ride on a B-17...

...it's $430 buck and you can do it this weekend at the Museum of Flight....go do it. I would if I had $430 bucks

Must wake the boy...

Tea bagging?

Really? People want to tea bag folks? Over taxes? Wow...I thought normally that was reserved for couples in the sanctity of marriage, but hey...if the right wing nuts want to go there, lets just go on to a full session out in a park then....

What is being broadcast in the news is recoculous. "Taxes are too high, we are wasting money on pointless projects and now you are going to raise all our taxes...." How about no you crazy dutch bastard. Taxes aren't too high, and are lower then they were in the 80's (hello...Regan). No one is going to jack up everyone's taxes, only those in the top tier that make assloads of money and they are talking about going back to the level that existed under Bill Cinton. And for those that say we are wasting money...every project has a sponsor. They aren't talking about going out to DQ and buying Blizzards for everyone. They are talking about research, clean air, defence, jobs, etc. etc. etc. We are a pluristic society and we don't get to pick how our tax dollars are spent. We elect people who do, so if you don't like it, tell your elected representitive. And if I hear "taxation with out representation" one more time from someone who doesn't live in Washington DC, or one of the few territories we have left and it isn't in reference to those few things, I'm going to smack someone. You do have representation. At the local, the state and the federal level. This is what is wrong with America...that people are so unaware of events, what is acutally being said, history and civics that a few folks who are pissed that they lost and are being obstructionist spin folks up into a tizzy. Not only that, the media who should be questioning and challenging things are not, but instead are only just contributing to it.

People are wandering around with the Gadsden flag like they understand what it means or symbolizes when they they don't even know what the point of the Boston Tea party or the events that led up to it are.  Really people...you are making the history major in me cry. If anything, taxes are too low...and here's why - 2 wars, crumbling infrastructure, and 11.2 trillion dollars in debt. When times are good, taxes should be high, bring in money and pay off the debt so we don't have to give Texas to China to cover our debt, and then times are bad, lower taxes to help things out and then if needed borrow to get out of it. Its the basics of saving...put money away and pay down debt so when times are bad you can survive.

Valentines Day slaughter avoided

So Jim has to give out valentines today, so I went to the store last night and got him some valentines with a cute rabbits on them instead of like Dora the Explorer or Hanna Montana as I'm trying to avoid all the kid trends that I can for as long as I can. I get home open them up after he goes to sleep so I can start filling them out and folding them (Jim's only at the "make your mark stage" so its very confusing to know who they came from if I let him do it…plus they would probably be chewed on a bit) when I find out that apparently not all valentines cards are the same and someone has put cute bunnies on cards with them insulting peoples intelligence/looks/parentage/lack of social standing. After Beth and I stop laughing and get Jim settled back down because we were laughing so much and the debate of "do we send them with these or not…" the decision is no, while it may be our kind of funny, its probably not most people's kind of funny let along parents of < 3 year olds or the < 3 year olds them selves form of funny. So that triggers another trip to the store so that I can avoid having my kid be kicked out of daycare or being "that parent" or "that kid." After careful observation it does appear that there's a trend with some card manufacturers to have cute harmless things on the front what insinuating that the recipient's mom is something akin to a lady of the evening only cheaper. These kinds of valentines did not exist when I was a kid (trust me, I would know because its my kind of funny). Both of these packages sit next to each other in the stores and get mixed in with each other. I opted to get Jim Mickey Mouse ones that don't insult people instead.

So lesson out there…read what the pictures are saying and make sure you pick from the stack of Mickey Mouse valentines that have "Happy Valentines Day!" on them, not the stack that cute bunnies that say "Happy F#%*ing Valentines Day! You're mom put out, why won't you?"

Happy Christopher Walken Day everyone

Is someone trying to tell me something?

I open up a snail mail that has one of those "regarding information that you requested and your free trial..." thinking "Goddammit, stupid bank ignored my "I don't want it..." to one of their offers, and they went ahead and signed me up anyway..." But instead I find a voucher for a free 30 day trial of an anti-depressant.

Wow...am I on the wrong mailing lists, or is someone trying to tell me something.
